The CW's Supernatural was originally intended to wrap up with Season 5's finale that saw Lucifer defeated, the apocalypse averted and Sam in Hell while Dean lived the apple-pie life with Lisa and Ben. However, the show did not come to an end, and, in many ways, it's the best thing that could've happened.

3 Season 3 (2007 2008)\n\n Kicking off the best three seasons of Supernatural is also the shortest season of Supernatural. With just 16 episodes, season 3 was shortened from the original 22 as a result of the 2007 writer's strike.
